Speakeasy Counselling / Online-Therapy / Individuals / Groups
IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU
First off, you are very brave in coming here and I applaud you for taking a step towards seeking support.
I am a mental health professional that works with adults and teens that struggle with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship conflict, and histories of trauma.
My mission is to help my clients have a sense of empowerment, peace, positive self-image and purposein the world.
Have you had a terrible experience in counselling in the past where you felt completely alone? I am sorry. My approach is warm, engaging, curious & compassionate. Feeling alone may be what brought you here. Life & relationships should not be as hard as you have been experiencing them and I can help you turn your life around. You may have never had the love, security, forgiveness or safety that all children need, but I want you to know that you can heal these wounds, replacing them with joy, vitality & connection.
About Allison Cordner B.F.A, RPCc, RTCc
I am a registered therapeutic counsellor. While I do not specialize solely in trauma, I have extraordinary empathy for those who have endured abuse of any kind, and bring deep sensitivity, acceptance, and patience to sexuality and intimacy struggles.
My therapeutic style is warm, soft, engaging, expressive, and based on the foundation of building a sense of safety and connection between us.
The style of psychotherapy I practice is transpersonal & informed by Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and Somatic Experiencing (S.E). My focus is on your present emotions & reactions in relationship to your past and present but highlighted mostly in the "here and now". I use somatic body techniques to help regulate your nervous system if you struggle with emotional disregulation. I am available to discuss what these terms mean to you and what they may look like in a session together. I always offer a free 30 minute consultation over video or in-person.
Many years of experience as a mother, a dancer, a portrait photographer working with a wide variety of clients, and a history of trauma have informed and influenced my therapeutic work and style. I also am in the process of becoming a clinical counsellor with an expected graduation in 2021.
My focus is on helping people who want a profound sense of connection and engagement with their therapist, and are looking for ways to deepen their mindfulness practices, body awareness, sense of safety, trust, and emotional regulation.

TRANSPERSONAL PATIENT-CENTERED COUNSELLING
Transpersonal counselling adds a spiritual component to modern psychology. It uses a humanistic, positive approach to healing by exploring your whole makeup – social, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and physical. It’s a proven, highly-successful method for emotion expansion. I also utilize a combination of Family Systems theory and Attachment Theory, Somatic work, Gestalt Techniques, A.E.D.P. (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy), and more, all with a Client-Centered Approach. I hold you in the highest positive regard while you make the decisions about what direction your sessions take.
I also incorporate biopsychosocial assessments to help define and pinpoint the compounding difficulties that may be impacting your well being such as for example family and relationship issues, substance abuse, depression, or anxiety, and health challenges.
I will help you learn to communicate your true feelings and to take the emotional risks needed to develop healthier dynamics, leading to more meaningful and connected in your relationships and in your life.
Your relationship with your partner is one of the most complex connections in your life. When something goes wrong you feel it, but you may not be able to express what the problem is exactly. To keep trying the same thing over and over but end up in the same place with the same conflict is a common problem. I am there to uncover the communication struggles that are blocking you from vulnerably and from connecting with your partner at the level you so desire. Through relationship counselling I will teach you techniques that will help you settle conflicts, improve your intimacy, rebuild trust, and define your relationship goals.
Using body awareness techniques I will help you regulate your nervous system from experiences of trauma that have affected your sense of vitality and power in the world. I will start by gently expanding your emotional ability to feel sensations coming from traumatic experiences such as accidents, attachment trauma, sexual assault etc. Building the ability to move our way through the immobility response by allowing the sensations one bit at a time to work our way out of the fear responses that got stuck in our bodies. Building a senses of safety and a capacity to deal and feel scary sensations over time.
I offer monthly on-line and in-person therapeutic group support, which is the perfect way for men and women to connect in a loving, safe, and confidential environment where you can bring your struggles and your ‘wins’. Group Sessions will be lead by me and on occasion one other therapeutic counsellor over the course of multiple weeks. It offers a great way of developing lasting friendships and peer support in your life. Group support is proven to be an extremely effective way to work through mental and behavioural struggles. Feeling a connection to others is the ultimate way to eliminate that feeling of aloneness most of us struggle with.
I offer experiential photo therapy sessions as a way to celebrate your relationship to your spouse or partner. They are structure to bring out your inner feelings in connection to your partner.
I guide you through poses and invites that often release a wave of emotions. All expressions are a welcome opening up of your true feelings and are meant to give you a loving and documented connection to your partner.
We will have a consultation prior to our photo session to develop an outline of how to work together and give you a transformative experience. Photo Therapy is designed to be a fun, loving, connective experience, and is meant to celebrate your relationship. You can have it documented in either a beautiful heirloom album or wall portrait as a reminder of your experience and connection to each other.
How do I know if you are the counsellor for me?

Policies & FAQ's
Do you have specific times for sessions?
My counselling hours are Monday to Friday – 8 am to 5 pm PST. After-hours and emergency sessions may be available upon request. If you have an emergency and are unable to reach me please call the crisis hotline in your area. http://portfolio.allisoncordner.com/crisis-hotlines
How many sessions will I need?
How many sessions and how often they will be scheduled will depend on several key factors: the type of problem you wish to address, your current level of resilience, your availability, and your finances. We can discuss this during your consultation.
How long do sessions last?
Sessions are generally one hour long but some clients choose to extend their session time by 30 minutes at an additional fee. The first few sessions sometimes take longer as we are just getting to know one another and I will be assessing your history and goals.
What do sessions cost?
One hour sessions are $130 for individuals and $145 for couples; and students are $85. For current rates on Groups see the Group Support page for more information. (BC residents add 5% GST)
What method of payment do you accept?
I accept Interac e-transfer
Visa & Mastercard (4% merchant processing fee will be applied)
If sessions are covered by insurance please contact your provider for details.
What happens if I can’t make a session?
My cancellation policy is simple: you need to provide a minimum of 48 hours notice for all cancellations. Appointments that are cancelled or missed without 48 hours notice will be charged the full amount of the scheduled appointment. You will be charged a half session fee for missed or cancelled appointments unless you have given 24 hours advance notice by telephone or email. I will wait for the entirety of the session if I have not heard from you. Should I, as a counsellor, miss a session or have to cancel within 24 hrs of our session, when we reschedule you will only be charged half price for the next session. The exception to this policy is in the unlikely circumstance that an unforeseeable and unpreventable situation occurred in the last 24 hours that did not allow either party to cancel or attend (accident, injury, illness emergency). In the case of ongoing illness that may foresee-ably cause you to miss our session I would rather have you cancel ahead.
Should you happen to arrive late to a session, we will begin the session when you arrive and still end at the pre-arranged end time. Should I as a counsellor arrive late to a session, we will begin the session when I arrive and you will either be provided with the time on the end of the session, or reimbursed for the time missed. Cancellations or changes to your appointment can be made by emailing or calling my office at (438) 496-8312.
In the case of a declared weather emergency, it is possible for your in-person session to be held at the appointed time by using ZOOM on-line video conferencing.
Contact Between Sessions
You may contact me between sessions by phone, text, or by email. I will contact you back within 48 hours and during office hours. Should it be needed, I provide 10 min of contact between sessions included in the regular session fee. If you need more time than 10 min. you can schedule another 1 hr session between our planned sessions.
Referrals to Specialists
From time to time I will make referrals. When I believe that another professional (doctor, psychiatrist, naturopath) would be therapeutically beneficial for you, we will discuss the suggestion together and I will support the two of you in making contact.
You are welcome to connect with me on my business Facebook page, while my personal Facebook page is for my personal life and I limit that to family and friends. Please do not message me through the social media (facebook, skype, linkedin, etc.) – contact me through my business email or phone please.
Does on-line counselling cost the same as in-person counselling?
Yes. Fees are charged for counselling time not the method. On-line counselling is provided as a convenience to you.
