My name is Allison (Allie) Cordner and I live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. (Eastern Standard Time New York)
. My therapeutic style is experiential/humanistic and include family systems theory, which means I will ask you questions about your family history and look at how it may connect to your current struggles. My services include individual, and soon group support work.
My therapeutic journey was a complete transformation from being at rock bottom in all aspects of my life to entirely rebuilding and redefining myself. I am no stranger to tough issues of abuse. I had a traumatic childhood and an even more traumatic early adulthood that led me to start putting up big walls and a defensive attitude to protect myself from being hurt. Part of this 'edge' as I like to call it was completely unintentional, I did not have the awareness around it, all I knew is that my happiness was low, I was prone to indulging in substances, I was struggling in my friendships, marriage and work life.
My biggest learning has been that in order for me to develop the deep loving connections and happiness I so desire in this lifetime, I need to allow myself to ‘soften’ by sharing the world of vulnerabilities happening inside me. Learning to ‘soften’ rather than ‘defend against’ has led me to attract deeper more meaningful connections and experiences. I am here to remind you that the journey is not easy but so incredibly worth while.I am passionate about working with male & female clients to support them to develop vulnerable connections, joy, and intimacy with themselves, others and the world. The first step is becoming aware of the story that we have created about ourselves (the negative voice). I bring a lot of sensitivity, acceptance, and patience to rage, aggression, sexuality, addiction and intimacy struggles.
